Methods for importing recipes from MasterCook into CookBook:

Option 1: CookBook does the bulk import (recommended for many recipes)

  • Export your MasterCook library to a .mz2 file.
  • Email team@cookbookmanager.com with:
    • Your CookBook email/username
    • The app you’re transferring from: MasterCook
    • Your exported .mz2 file (attach or share a download link)
  • We’ll queue the import and notify you when it’s done. Note: a Pro subscription is required.

Option 2: Import individual recipes yourself (one by one)

  • Export a single recipe from MasterCook to a supported format (CookBook reads JSON-LD, hRecipe, Schema.org, and most plain text).
  • In CookBook tap Add (+) → From a file, select the file, review, then Save.

Supported export file types include:

  • CookBook: .zip
  • Big Oven: .zip
  • Cookmate: .mcb
  • Copy Me That: .zip (html) / .zip (text)
  • Living Cookbook: .fdx / .fdxz
  • MasterCook: .mz2
  • My Recipe Book: .zip / sqlite
  • Paprika: .html (zip) including images / .paprikarecipes
  • Pepperplate: .zip (text)
  • Plan to Eat: .csv / .txt
